Why I chose Buy Me A Coffee over Patreon.

You can find my BMAC page here or on the footer of this page.

For a while I’ve been gradually building my author platform in preparation for the hopeful start of a great side-career in writing. I’ve enjoyed not only writing blogs on my website and here on Medium, but also laying the final touches and polish to my debut epic fantasy novel.

And now, after some consideration, I have finally created a “Buy Me A Coffee” page! It’s a bold and scary step, but I believe that I’m ready to deliver more content worthy of my most devoted followers! The page is in its baby steps but I hope to improve it week by week.

So now as a writer, there lies the question as to why I chose Buy Me A Coffee over the more popular Patreon.

This won’t exactly be a thorough and detailed breakdown of the two sites, this is merely an anecdote of my personal preferences that led to the decision.

The main reason is that, as an amateur writer still stumbling through my writing journey, I didn’t want people straight away committing to only a monthly membership (though the option is there). Somehow the idea of giving one-off contributions of whatever you are comfortable with is far more appealing I feel for most people. Even in small ways, support is still support and I would want to give my fans as much flexibility on that front.

Furthermore, paying is far more streamlined and straight forward on BMAC, you often don’t even need to make an account to give support.

Anyway, let this be my official announcement of my Buy Me A Coffee page! You’ll see sneak peeks, behind the scenes insights and works in (or out) of progress that I wouldn’t share much anywhere else. And since I plan to make videos on Youtube too, you may see behind the scenes on what I’m working on right now! I’ll even upload blogs and articles there before I release them here on Medium or my website. In fact, if you were to be a member, you could even have a say in what I write about next!

To all those who have silently watched my progress, perhaps you’re willing to go a little further.

Thank you for reading and have a beautiful day!
