The Beginning

Before I tuck into what will be my first ever blog post, I feel it necessary to divulge what exactly I may be talking about in future posts.

In 2018, when I began my one year in the US of A doing a College Program at Walt Disney World (which I will no doubt discuss at a later time), I spent many bus trips going to and from the Art of Animation resort. As any daydreamer would do, my mind went many places, and I even gnawed through a book or two.

But I never expected to settle on the idea of writing one.

The tiny notebook that contained my travel plans to make sure I arrived in the states safe and sound, soon became a canvas on which I pasted on the ideas of a story. If however, you were to have sat next to me in those early days and told me “In about three years when you get home, you’ll finish an entire 170,000 word manuscript of your first fantasy novel, with several short stories and the prospect of publishing well on the horizon”.

I likely would have said something along the lines of:

“Who are you? What the hell are you talking about? Why did you sit down next to me? Also, seriously, who are you?”

But I digress.

I’m by no means a veteran writer, I’m still a little fledgling learning to flap his wings. But after learning to write fiction by mostly self-taught means, I feel that the best perspective a beginner writer can have, is another beginner writer learning alongside them.

So, in addition to many other things, I’ll discuss what I’ve learned about the world of writing, my personal opinions on every aspect of it, and my process from creating my own fantasy stories from nothing.

A master may not always be best at sharing advice to a beginner, since they are separated by their own zeitgeist or tier beyond beginner stuff.

And it is here that I will hopefully chronicle my journey, my thoughts and what I’m all about!

I look forward to spilling my thoughts if you are ready to hold up the cup, like a pot of tea!

However you managed to find me, thanks for stopping by, and have a beautiful day.

-Daniel.
